Plans for December 12th-16th

Hi Parents,
   The excitement is building! The children
have been very good considering all that
is happening!  We finished our Habitat
Boxes and they did a very good job. We are
also working hard on 3-digit addition.
The plans for next week:

Bible-Luke 2: 8-11 is due Wednesday Dec. 14th.

Reading-We have just about finished our first
       book so we will be doing some "end of
       the book" activities and reviewing
       skills.

Language-We will do some Christmas writing
                 activities.

Spelling-Lesson 17 on pages 114-119, words
            that are homophones. The test will be
            on Wednesday this week.

Math-Pages 377-382 on 3-digit addition.

Science-Complete the study on Habitats.

Social Studies-Continue with Unit 3 on
             Goods and Services.


Reminders:I am going to send the Monday Folders home on
Wednesday next week. Our class party will be on Thursday
from 2:00-3:00 and Friday will be 11:30 dismissal. After the
Holidays you return to school on Wednesday Jan. 4th, 2012!

Plans for December 5th-9th

Hi Parents,
    Well we've gotten back into the swing
of things after our nice Thanksgiving break!
We have had a nice week and the children
have been working hard. They are really
enjoying the Habitat Boxes they are
making. They are working in groups and
doing very well.
The following are the plans for next week:

Bible-The memory work is Luke2:8-11.
         We will send it in the Monday folders and
          it will be due Wednesday Dec. 14th.

Reading-We will read two more stories
           about neighborhoods. "Grandpa's
           Corner Store" and "Barrio" on
           pages 396-413.

Language-Finish up Unit 5 on verbs
              and we plan to have a test on
              this Thursday. We will be
             working on pages 179-185,
             and then reviewing Unit 5.

Spelling-Lesson16 on pages 108-113,
              long "i" words.

Math-We will finish up 2-digit subtraction
         and begin 3-digit addition.

Science-We will continue with environments
            and habitats on pages173-183.

Social Studies-Continue with Unit 3 on
                     community services.

Reminders: We will have our class Christmas Party
on Thursday Dec. 15th from 2:00-3:00 and we have
early dismissal on Friday Dec. 16th, which is 11:30!

Plans for November 28th-December 2nd

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I hope you will
all have a wonderful week and enjoy your family.
We are so blessed!
Plans for the next week:

Bible-Memory work is Colossians 3:17
        due on Friday Dec. 2nd. "And whatever you do,
        whether in word or deed, do it all in the
        name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks
        to God the Father through him."

Reading-We will read "Jamaica Louise James"
               on pages 364-392.
            Skills-syllables, inferring, persuasion,
            comprehension.

Language-Continue with verbs on pages 171-178.

Spelling-Lesson 15 on pages 102-107, words
              with long "o".

Math-More 2-digit subtraction on pages 221-232.

Science-Habitats and we hope to make some
            habitat boxes in class.

Social Studies-We will begin Unit 3 on
                      " Working Together" on pages
                       100-111.

Plans for November14th-18th

Hi Parents,
   We have had a nice short week and enjoyed our
field trip to the Archives and History Building. The
children really liked the hands-on activities. They also
enjoyed reading about fire stations and firefighters
in our reading books. The following are our plans
for next week:

Bible-Psalm 100:1-5 is due Friday, Nov. 18th.

Reading-We will finish up our Firehouse
          story and read "Big Bushy Mustache"
          on pages 324-356.

Language-We are working on verbs on
             pages 165-173.

Spelling-Lesson 14 on pages 96-101,
            more long "e" words.

Math-Pages 207-220 continue 2-digit subtraction.

Science-Pages 150-167 on habitats and environments.

Social Studies-Finishing up Unit 2 and reviewing
                  for test on Friday, Nov.18th.

Reminder: We will be out of school November 21st-25th
for Thanksgiving Holidays.

Plans for November 7th-11th

Hi Parents,
      We had a good week. We were busy studying
Chinatown, which we were reading about in our
reading book as we read about different neighborhoods
and communities. We also spent time on animals
reviewing for our test!
     Please check your child's folder Monday for the
website to IXL math. It is a good site for practicing
math skills at home. We will also be using it some at
school.
    We are looking forward to our field trip Tuesday
to the Archives and History Building downtown.

Plans for Nov. 7th-11th

Bible-Memory work is Psalm 100:1-5, it
         is due Nov. 18th. Look for a handout
         in Monday folders.

Reading-Pages 297-323 "A Trip to the Firehouse"

Language-Continue writing a story and verbs
                on pages 163-169.

Spelling-Lesson 13 on pages 90-95, words with
               long "a" spelled ai or ay.

Math-Pages 199-206 on regrouping with subtraction.

Science-Living Things in Their Environments on
              pages 148-165.

Social Studies-We will do a study on Indians this week.


Reminder-We will out of school on Friday to honor our
Veterans.

Plans for October 31st-November 4th

Hi Parents,
   Well we had a short but fun week with the field
trip and the children having a day off! I really enjoyed
seeing all of you and I thank you for taking the time to
come. Plans for next week:

Bible-The memory verse is Phillipians 4:13
         "I can do all things through Christ
           who strengthens me." This is due
          on Friday Nov. 4th.

Reading-We are reading "Chinatown" this week
              on pages 260-285.
             Skills-comprehenion, making
             judgements, and ABC order to
             the third letter.

Language-Pages 134-145 writing a good story.

Spelling-Lesson 12, a review lesson on pages 84-89

Math-Pages 189-200, finishing up 2-digit addition and
          beginning 2-digit subtraction.

Science-We will finish up Chapter 3 on Animals
             and have a test on Thursday.

Social Studies-Continue with Earth's Resources.

Plans for October 24th-28th

Hi Parents,
   Well we have had a very exciting and busy week!
All the Homecoming activities were lots of fun
for everyone! I've enjoyed seeing all the different
characters and crazy hair and hats, they have
been fun to watch each day.
The plans for next week:

Bible-The memory verse will be
       Proverbs 22:6 "Train a child in the
          way he should go, and when
          he is old he will not turn from
          it." This will be due Thursday
          October 27th.

Reading-Pages 240-250, Fables

Language-Pages 119-133, reviewing
              Unit 3 on nouns and pronouns.
               We will have a test on Unit 3
               on Thursday Oct. 27th.

Spelling-Lesson 11 on pages 78-83,
              words with k or ck.

Math-Pages 181-188, more on
          2-digit addition.

Science-Pages 96-109 more on
            classes of animals.

Social Studies-Pages 76-85, Earth's
                      Resources and caring
                      for them.

Reminders:Remember our field trip on
Tuesday October 25th to Dream Field
Farms. They may wear long jeans
and a Trinity shirt for the field trip.
We hope to leave school around
8:20 and will probably return around 2:30.
Also remember conferences on Friday.
The children have the day off and I
look forward to seeing all of you!

Plans for October 17th-21st

Hi Parents,
     We have had a good week and we are excited
about Homecoming week next! It starts
Monday with "Crayon Day" where you
can dress with one color and we have
a pep rally at 2:30 for the lower school
children. You are welcome to come
although it is standing room only for
parents. You can look on the Homecoming
Website and it will give all the information
about each day and I will write the Themes
for each day on their homework.
Plans for next week:

Bible-The 10 Commandments are due
          Friday the 21st.

Reading-Pages 220-237, two stories about
            Owls.

Language-Pages115-123, completing the unit
                 on nouns and pronouns.

Math-Pages 173-180 on 2-digit addition.

Science-We are reading from our book
              and also writing short animal
              reports they are enjoying very
              much.We have a lot of books
              and they are reading and writing
              some interesting facts about different
              animals.

Social Studies-Pages 68-75, still on our country.
                       We have also been drawing and
                        labeling Landforms.

Reminders: Next Friday on Homecoming Day, dismissal will
be 12:30 but the Parade is from 11:15-11:30. If you come
to the Parade you can get your child from the classroom at
11:30 and then go get lunch if you ordered it or take your child
with you. Carpool pick-up will be 12:30.

Plans for October 10th-14th

Hi Parents,
    We have had a good week. We finished up our Plant
study with much excitement planting the lima beans.
I'm sure you're enjoying those at home now! Remember
Monday is a holiday so enjoy a day off!
Plans for next week:

Bible-Our memory work is the Ten Commandments.
        I will send them in the Tuesday folder and
        they will be due Friday Oct. 21st.

Reading-We will be reading "Around the Pond"
              on pages 188-213. Skills- comprehension,
              categorize and classify,consonant clusters.

Language-Pages 107-114 on pronouns.

Spelling-Lesson 9, words with sh,ch,th,wh
              on pages 66-71.

Math-Pages 163-174 on 2-digit addition with
          some regrouping.

Science-Animals on pages 78-91.

Social Studies-Landforms and where people
                       live on pages 56-65.

Plans for October 3rd-7th

Hi Parents,
   We have had a fun week with our "Apple Tasting" and
reading story about camping!  We tasted 4 different apples,
Gala, Granny Smith, Red Delicious and Golden Delicious.
Our favorite was the Golden Delicious. Yesterday we went
on a "Nature Walk" around school which was lots of fun
and today we are going to have a" camp-out" and eat apple chips!
It's been a fun week and the following are plans for the
first week in October:

Bible- The memory work for this week is Psalm 24:1:
          "The earth is the Lord's, and everything in it,
            the world, and all who live in it."

Reading-Pages  166-183 "Exploring Parks with Ranger
               Dockett". Skills-consonant clusters, antonyms,
               and fact and opinion.

Language- Pages 97-106 continuing with nouns.

Spelling-Pages 60-65 Lesson 8, words with double
           final consonants.

Math-Pages 85-88 on graphs and then pages
          155-160 on 2-digit addition.

Science-Reviewing Chapter 3 on pages 114-146
              for a test on Wednesday.

Social Studies-Pages59-67 continuing with geography.

Reminder-We have received the pictures from Grandparents
Day and have written our Grandparents a note. These will
be in their Signed Paper folder on Monday so you can mail
them or deliver them to the right person. Thank you!

Plans for Sept. 26th-30th

 Hi Parents,
   Well I think we had a successful Fall Festival even though
it was a little warm! We've had a good week, the children
have enjoyed writing and sharing their personal narratives.

The following are plans for this upcoming week:

Bible-Ephesians 6:2-3 due Friday "Honor your father
         and mother"-which is the first commandment
         with a promise-"that it may go well with
         you and that you may enjoy long life on earth."

Reading-We will wrap up Theme 1 and begin Theme 2
              on Nature. We will read Henry and Mudge on
              pages 130-157.

Language-Pages 93-102 on Nouns.

Spelling-Pages 54-59 on words with consonant clusters.

Math-Pages 73-84 on Graphs.

Science-Pages 132-143 continuing with plants. On Monday
             we will celebrate Johnny Appleseeds birthday!

Social Studies-Pages 52-65 on Our Earth.

Social Studies-Complete and review Unit 1.
               Test on Unit 1 next Friday the 23rd.

Reminder: The Fall Festival is next Friday afternoon
                 from 1:30-3:00 and everyone is invited!
                 A note will be sent home in Monday's papers

    I think Grandparents Day was a great success! I want to thank you
all for your help! We enjoyed having the grandparents visit and the
children did a fantastic job singing! It was a fun day for everyone!

Plans for August 29-Sept. 2nd

Hi Parents,
    A few reminders for this week. On Wednesday
we have school pictures, and I will have coach class
on Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. for anyone  who feels
they need a little extra.

Plans for the week:

Plans for August 22nd-26th

Hi Parents,
   We've had a good week and the children are doing so well!
Grandparents Day is slipping up on us and I wanted to explain
what it involves especially to those have not experienced it.
The Grandparents are invited for Sept. 9th to Willett Hall
and the children will sing a couple of songs for them. We
watch a short movie about a grandparent and have refreshments.
It last about an hour but is lots of fun. You will be receiving
information in the upcoming week but I just wanted you
to know a little about it.

Plans for the week:

Bible-The Creation Facts are due Friday.

Reading-This weeks story is Julius on pgs. 40-61.

Language-Continue learning about sentences
                 on pages 41-50.

Spelling-Lesson 2, more words with short vowels
               on pages 24-29.

Math-Subraction strategies on pages 18-26.

Science-Needs of plants and animals on
             pages 58-77.

Social Studies-Neighborhoods on pages 8-19.

Getting Started

Parents,
    Thank you so much for coming to the PTO meeting last Monday
night. I enjoyed meeting you and I am enjoying getting to know
your children now! They are very sweet and talkative for the
first day! We had a good few days and I'm looking forward to a
great year! My plan with my blog this year is to post each weeks
plans for the week on Monday. I hope this will be helpful.

Plans for August 15-19:

Bible-The Bible verse this week will be the Creation Facts
        which should be in your bookbag on Monday the 15th.
        This will be due on Friday Aug. 26th but they can
         say it anytime between now and then when they feel
        ready.

Reading-Our story this week is "Dragon Gets By." We will
           be working on vocabulary and comprehension skills.

Language-We will be working on complete sentences and
                different kinds of sentences.

Spelling-Lesson 1 on words with short vowel sounds on
              pages 18-23. We will have a pretest on Wednesday and
              a test with dictation on Friday.

Math-Chapter 1 on beginning addition on pages 1-12.

Science-We will start Unit 1 on Living and Non-Living
              things.

Social Studies-We will start Unit 1 on Living
                  in a Neighborhood.
